MEAN WELL AUSTRALIA - How Variable Frequency Drives Save Energy in Commercial Cold Rooms & Refrigeration Applications.

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) improve the energy efficiency of commercial cooling systems, including chillers and cool rooms, by optimising the operation of pumps, compressors, evaporators, and fans.

VFDs give you absolute control, with feedback from sensors within the system. In turn, they can control the system output, reducing unnecessary energy wastage. Reducing energy consumption is critical to reducing operating costs. In fact, according to the International Energy Agency (IEC), the global share of electricity & energy usage of motor-related equipment accounts for 46% of energy consumption, dwarfing that of lighting at 19%.

Cold Room Refrigeration Applications can use Variable Frequency Drives to reduce their energy expenditure

MEAN WELL has launched a new line of VFDs targeting these issues for synchronous reluctance motors (SYNRM), induction motors, & brushless direct current motors (BLDC). These are typically found in air conditioning systems, chillers, cold rooms, compressors, pumps, and evaporator systems.

MEAN WELL’s VFDs ensure your system can operate efficiently, reducing energy wastage. Thereby, saving money on energy expenditure.

There are two variants within the MEAN WELL variable frequency drive range:

  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
  • U Type Metal Case

We have detailed their respective input and output parameters and the applications they are best suited to below, together with other useful features such as programmability.
